Xiaomi has given the 16GB model of the handset a price cut as well. Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB can now be purchased at a price of Rs 14,999, a flat discount of Rs 3,000 compared to its launch price. This is the second price cut for the 16GB variant, whose price tag went down from Rs 19,999 to Rs 17,999 in April.
The company is also running an exchange offer on the smartphone, giving a maximum discount of another Rs 5,000. This will bring down the price of Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB to Rs 9,999.
Xiaomi’s 2014 flagship smartphone, Mi 4, goes on sale in the Indian market on February 10. The phone priced around Rs 20,000, brings high-end hardware specifications to the mid-range segment, similar to Mi 3 smartphone launched in July last year.
However, the landscape has changed radically and surprisingly, consumers have other options to choose from.
Xiaomi pitted the phone against these and other high-end offerings and even showcased a related slide at a launch event in New Delhi. One name that appears to one up the Mi 4, at least in some counts, is the OnePlus One.
Amazon and Snapdeal, which also sell Xiaomi smartphones, do not have this offer at present. Mi 4 16GB is listed at Rs 14,999 on Xiaomi India's official website, but provides no exchange offer. Successor to the Xiaomi Mi 3, the smartphone features a stainless steel metal frame and a 5-inch Full HD display. It also has changeable plastic back covers.
Xiaomi Mi 4 is powered by a 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB RAM. The phone runs MIUI 6, a new version of the company's operating system, based on Android 4.4 KitKat.
The phone sports a 13MP rear and 8MP front Sony stacked CMOS camera and a 3080mAh battery. According to Xiaomi, the battery lasts one and a half day with normal usage and will offer quick charging, reaching 60% charge in an hour's time. In terms of connectivity, the phone supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The phone doesn't support 4G data and NFC.
