Intex Technologies, mobile handset and consumer durables brand, in its efforts to support the Prime Minister’s Skill India initiative, has recently collaborated with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) to provide formal academic training and qualification to its pool of semi-skilled manpower in Noida factories hailing from remote parts of the country.
This program offers an excellent opportunity to youngsters who would like to continue their studies while gaining employable skills. As part of the association, Intex as the skill knowledge partner will provide practical on-job training to school passouts at its manufacturing plant in Noida and TISS, a leading academic institute and a deemed university from Mumbai, will be running a 3-year Bachelors in Vocational Studies or B. Voc (with Specialisation in Electronics Manufacturing).
The identified students and industrial workforce working 8-hours per day in the Noida factory will be simultaneously enrolled with TISS for their graduation program. After the 8-hour work schedule, the workforce is given 2-hours of academic training (6PM to 8PM) in Bachelors in Vocational Studies (Specialisation in Electronics Manufacturing) program designed by TISS.
The course will be a 3-year or six semester program and will be conducted at a premise adjacent to the Intex factory building in Noida keeping in mind the convenience of the workforce/students.
Commenting on this noble initiative, Narendra Bansal, Chairman & Managing Director, Intex Technologies, said, “The Modi Government’s s India Development agenda through Skill India, Make in India and Digital India policies will give impetus to the country’s overall economic development, unleash India’s skill resource and thereby create millions of skilled jobs across sectors. At Intex, we follow the same motto by not just aiming to create basic jobs but skilled manpower and high-skilled jobs for the country. As a first step forward, we are very happy and excited to partner with one of the leading educational institution, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in imparting formal education and qualification to the pool of semi-skilled manpower, which in future will not only benefit the industry but the employability scenario of the country and encourage bright people from remotest parts of the country in taking step forward in doing something meaningful in their life.”
Intex will recruit around 250-300 students per semester, i.e. 500-600 annually, through two admission sessions in July and January. The area of focus for the recruitment programs would be certain areas of East UP, Bihar and Jharkhand.
With the operational of the TISS collaboration, Intex Technologies is also in the process of finalising an independent skills development program with the UP Government to be implemented in the near future.
