Sony is reportedly working on a new smartphone. An unknown handset, which is rumoured to launch at the company's MWC 2017 event in Barcelona, was recently spotted on a benchmarking website.
Dubbed 'Pikachu,' the new Sony smartphone was seen in a GFXBench listing. The listing reveals the smartphone as having a 5-inch HD display and being powered by a 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek SoC.
The handset will have 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It's expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat and feature a 21MP rear camera. An 8MP selfie-shooter is also expected.
According to some earlier rumours, Sony is likely to unveil two mid-range smartphones at MWC 2017. Bearing model numbers - G3112 and G3221, the handsets are said to be powered by MediaTek Helio P20 processor. Rumours also suggest that Sony G3112 will sport an HD display, while the G3221 will have a Full-HD display.
Last month, an online report claimed that Sony is working on its Xperia XA smartphone's successor, which it may launch at the upcoming MWC event. Several renders of the alleged device have also surfaced online.
According to these renders, the smartphone will feature a 5-inch display and have a USB Type-C port.
