As a part of its social responsibility, Rajkot Computer Traders Association (RCTA), one of the prominent IT associations in Gujarat has taken up distribution of masks to all RCTA members free of cost. RCTA is also spreading awareness about precautionary measures to prevent H1N1 virus infection.
Praful Patel, president of RCTA said that this could be the first time that any IT association has taken such initiative.
“We are distributing masks to all RCTA members, their staff and family members absolutely free of cost. We are also running an awareness campaign for our members”, he said.
Bhavin Gathani, joint secretary of RCTA said that the association was getting positive response from the members.
“We have distributed 500 masks so far. We target to distribute 2000 mask in Rajkot”, he said.
The Swine flu fear has gripped the entire country. With more than 275 deaths and over 4500 cases, Gujarat has become worst affected state by Swine flu. To tackle the epidemic, the state government has taken various precautionary steps.
However, Gathani said that exaggeration of the facts regarding the viral infection was causing panic among common citizens.
“We understand the severity of the epidemic. However, numbers of victims of the H1N1 virus are somewhere exaggerated and the situation is not that bad as reported in media”, he said.
The masks are available in Anjali Computer media from 9 am to 6 pm and the association has appealed all the members to take benefit of the initiative.
