Apple is hosting an event on September 12 and is likely to launch its next-generation iPhone, the iPhone 8 or iPhone X. The smartphone is expected to arrive alongside two other devices, the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus. However, not much is known about when the smartphones will be made available or when they will go on pre-orders, till now. A new report from a German website, Macerkopf seems to know when the devices will be available for pre-orders.
The website claims that the latest iPhone, after being introduced on September 12 (Tuesday) will be up for pre-orders starting September 15, which is the Friday of the same week. The website cites two German carriers as its sources. The device will start shipping on September 22, adds the report.
This goes in line with the report from Mac4Ever from earlier this month. According to the website, the smartphone will be going on sales a week and a half after the launch, September 22.
The dates mentioned above go in line with Apple's past record wherein it launches the handset on Tuesday or Wednesday and makes it available on a Friday. It is worth mentioning that at the same time we could also see the rollout of iOS 11, macOS High Sierra, WatchOS 4 and tvOS 11.
The rumoured prices of the upcoming iPhone are also in the news. Reports have indicated it is expected to start from $999 and go up to until $1200. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who's known for his track record on Apple, has issued a note to investors (obtained by the AppleInsider website) where he claims the OLED panel's price is the reason for the high cost of Apple's upcoming smartphones.
In the note, he says that the OLED panel by Samsung for the upcoming iPhone may cost anywhere between $120 to $130 per unit. This is a huge sum as compared to the $45 to $55 per unit price of LCD screen Apple used for iPhone 7 Plus.
