Panache Infotech is
launching FireFilt, a unified threat management system that offers
multiple security features in a single product. Based on Panache's
firewall, Control adds intrusion detection/protection based on an
open-source software. Other new features include the ability to allow
data traffic based on MAC addresses, as well as an embedded
anti-virus engine that provides the option to scan all inbound and
outbound Web, email, and FTP traffic for malware. Control also offers
plug-ins for other commercial and open-source anti-virus products.
The Mumbai-based company
is ready with its beta-tested PANACHE FireFilt. "It is a product
progressed in the right direction. We have designed the product to
have more control over bandwidth allocation, such as by providing
more than the single bandwidth limiter that the software currently
offers. The owners on board need to use all the networks available to
them, but the resources needs to be limited," said Akash Sutane,
VP, Panache Infotech.
PANACHE FireFilt is
typically designed for small and medium-sized companies that need a
variety of security features but cannot afford to buy them separately
or to operate individual products. Panache entered the UTM space
along with the portfolio of products such as Small Form Factor PC,
Thin Client, Disaster Recovery Appliance and also offers a variety of
embedded technologies and solutions.
PANACHE FireFilt can be
purchased as a appliance that runs on virtualized platforms. Platform
independency allows it to be installed on commodity hardware. It runs
on 32-bit or 64-bit servers or workstations. PANACHE FireFilt is
available for Linux, Windows, and Apple Macintosh. Anti-virus support
is also available at an extra charge.
