WhatsApp is reportedly testing a feature that will let you share just any type of file. While until now the world's top instant messenger supported sharing of specific file types such as docs, spreadsheets, slides and pdf. Now, the company is said to be working on a new functionality that in the messenger that will support all kinds of file types.
According to a report in wabetainfo website, a WhatsApp update now brings the ability for the messenger to share any file type. The feature is said to arrive on all three major platforms Android, iOS and Windows Phone. The maximum size of a file stays the same at 128MB for iOS and 100MB for Android. The website says that users will also be able to share any file from WhatsApp desktop version also.
It is also being said that since WhatsApp is experimenting with this new feature, not all users may get it right away. The rollout process too is expected to be very slow.
Earlier this month, WhatsApp rolled out an update for its iOS app. The update introduces three new features -- Album, Filters and Reply shortcut.
The Album feature enables users to organize images in a better way. When users send or receive a collection of five or more photos/ videos, they will automatically be grouped together as an album, creating a tile display within the messages.
