NCR Corporation announced that a new milestone in the company’s history as the Research and Development (R&D) centre in Hyderabad completes a decade of successful operations.
The R&D centre in Hyderabad is NCR’s largest software development centre in the world and remains a critical hub focused on developing innovative solutions both for India and the global markets.
To add to its credit, the centre has introduced various innovations adopted by global financial institutions like the Interactive Teller ATM, EMV contactless ATM cash withdrawals, and mobile cash withdrawal amongst many others. Presently, over 400,000 ATMs around the world run applications developed by NCR Hyderabad.
“Today, the self-service and consumer transactions space are dynamically evolving with newer technologies constantly being introduced in the market. Hence, it is imperative to be on top of every development in the market and more importantly to know about how these developments can be leveraged to a business’s advantage. Hyderabad is one of the fastest growing start-up communities in the country fuelled by some premium colleges like IIT, IIIT, BITS etc. The region has a burgeoning young talent pool with great potential and NCR is committed to investing in motivating, training and developing their technical skills to make them dedicated professionals in the market,” said Ashok Nallam, product management director, software engineering at NCR Corporation.
NCR commemorated the 10th anniversary of its R&D centre by hosting the first edition of ‘TransactEd’ – a industry connect event that involved over 300 attendees from Hyderabad including IT industry experts, faculty member of engineering colleges and students to discuss critical topics on transforming transactional technologies and share ideas to drive innovation.
“The R&D centre will continue to invest in talent and robust innovation pipeline to change the way consumers, connect, interact and transact with businesses,” added Nallam
NCR ‘TransactED’ aims to provide a platform for technologists, practitioners, academia and students to discuss the latest industry trends and share their perspectives on how the industry will evolve.
Started in 2004 with 50 young engineers, NCR’s Hyderabad R&D centre now houses more than 600 professionals focused on software development for financial, retail, travel and hospitality line of business.
Apart from the Hyderabad R&D centre, NCR has invested in a new world-class manufacturing facility in Chennai which will be operational early next year.
