National Registration of Citizens garners increased IT business in North East

The Assam government has begun the process of registration of the Assamese citizens in the state. The National Register of Citizens (NRC) is a register containing the names of Indian citizens. NRC updation is basically the process of enlisting the names of citizens based on electoral rolls upto 1971 and 1951 NRC.

This updation process by the government of Assam has given the smile on faces of IT traders in Assam and North East region. This registration and updation process has increased the sales of IT products. Channel partners are garnering more business from this large scale project of NRC.

“Online market is continuously affecting the IT market but after starting this project of NRC, sales of computers, printers, lamination machines which is used in registration process has increased. Business has increased 20-30% from previous year. We are hoping all IT traders in North East region are getting tenders from government,” Surendra Choraria, director, Jain infosys.

The registration process will conclude by July 31 whereas the publication of the final registration will be out in January 2016.
