Modi Infosol, earlier known as Modi
Peripheral, a Delhi based regional distributor has forayed into
telecom and retail business. The company is aggressively looking at
this space. Of late, it has signed up partnership with major mobile
handset companies and set up a separate telecom channel. While
explaining the new line of business, Shyam Sunder Modi, director,
Modi Infosol said, “This year, we have expanded our distribution
platter, while having alliance with principal companies like Asus,
Ricoh, Acer, Motorola, Philips, Viewsonic and Samsung. Apart from our
IT business, which is mainly for HP commercial range of products and
Microsoft. We had decided to expand our horizon from IT to telecom
and retail. In the current IT distribution business, selling pure IT
is becoming challenging, therefore we diversify into retail and
telecom. Currently, our telecom business is contributing Rs 2 crore
every month.”
All the above partnerships are largely
limited to Delhi and some parts of northern region. Moreover, for
retail business, the company has formed a separate company under the
name of New Age Techsol. In the telecom space, Modi has added Acer
tablets and smartphones, followed by Motorola mobile in Central
Delhi, Philips mobile, Viewsonic tablets, whereas in the IT business,
it has added Asus notebook and netbook and Ricoh entry level
printers. However, the company has discontinued its alliance with
Toshiba laptops. “We are quite bullish on the Asus laptops
business. We have sold 1,500 units of SKUs in last month and seeing a
rapid growth mo- m. To push our telecom sales, we have appointed 125
new telecom partners in Delhi. On the retail front, we have added
Samsung and opened our retail store, dubbed as Samsung Smart Cafe in
Delhi for its complete range of mobile phones, laptops, and cameras,”
Modi concluded.
