The social media was abuzz with reports of a city resident, Sushil Narsian, who tweeted that he was charged Rs 149 crore for a 300m ride by Ola cabs.
While the incident happened on April 1, many readers presumed it was an April Fool's Day prank. There was a screenshot posted by Narsian online, which showed the Ola cabs support staffers replying to him: "Please message the the booking ID and we will look into it." Ola officials were unavailable for comment.

Sources said that the overbilling occurred due to a technical glitch. The cab company had deducted Rs 127 for the ride from the electronic wallet. They subsequently refunded his money and fixed the anomaly within two hours, sources added.
