MAIT and TAIT organises the National Conclave on IT & Electronics Manufacturing

MAIT, an body representing IT hardware Industry in association with Mumbai based Trade Association of Information Technology (MAIT) organised the ‘National Conclave on IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India’ to discuss the scope and opportunities in the Electronics Manufacturing in India. The conclave which was themed at ‘IT & Electronics Manufacturing in India – Opportunity for IT Channel Partners, System Integrators and SMEs’ was supported by Govt of Maharashtra.

Knowledge packed panel discussions and presentations by industry veterans were the key highlights of the event organised on 24th April, 2015.  Cabinet Minister of Industries, Maharashtra Government Subhash Desai and SK Marwah, Director/Scientist ‘F’, Dept. Of Electronics & IT, New Delhi were the chief guests in the event. The other dignitaries were Mr Paras Shah, CEO, Neoteric Infomatique Ltd, Mr Ajay Sawant, MD, Orient Technologies Private Limited, Mr Raj Purohit, BJP MLA, Mumbai and Vineet Goenka, Co. Convenor, IT Cell, BJP.

The event kick started with a key note address by K.R. Chaube, President, TAIT. In his welcome address, Chaube said that the government should include IT associations in policy making.

“The government should include IT associations in policy making as associations are the integral and most important part of the IT industry”, Chaube said.

In his Presidential Address, Amar Babu, President, MAIT said, “IT hardware industry is very large industry. However, there is need to encourage domestic manufacturing in the country. Electronics Manufacturing is a huge opportunity for manufacturers and they can look at new areas and new fields in manufacturing.”

On the occasion Industries Minister of Maharashtra Subhash Desai said, “New Electronics Policy of Maharashtra supports ‘Make In India’ Programme and Manufacturing of IT Products and Hardware in Maharashtra. I welcome recommendations of MAIT and TAIT prior to its implementation. We are ready to offer the infrastructure and incentives in Maharashtra to the IT Hardware Manufacturers.”

SK Marwah, Director/Scientist ‘F’, Dept. Of Electronics & IT informed the audience about government policies proposed under the ‘Digital India’ and ‘Make In India’ programme. He also highlighted various opportunities available in IT Manufacturing in India, Innovation, Availability of Incentives and Schemes, Importance of Infrastructure, IT Clusters and Schemes etc.

There was a panel discussion on Government Schemes & Policies, Challenges faced by the IT Manufacturers and Opportunities to Manufacture IT Products in India on which industry veterans shared their valuable thoughts and also gave several suggestions to the government. Panellists stressed on need of ease of doing business, stable tax regime and creation of larger IT eco-system.

Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT concluded the conclave by vote of thanks to the Cabinet Minister of Industries, Govt of Maharashtra Subhash Desai, Dignitaries from Centre and State Governments, Senior Executives of IT Industry, Channel Partners, System Integrators and SMEs.

The other dignitaries were Mr Paras Shah, CEO, Neoteric Infomatique Ltd, Mr Ajay Sawant, MD, Orient Technologies Private Limited, Mr Raj Purohit, BJP MLA, Mumbai and Vineet Goenka, Co. Convenor, IT Cell, BJP. More than 200 participants from IT Channel Partners, System Integrators and SMEs had participated in the event.
