Jharkhand association to host Computer Premier League in Ranchi

Re-enacting the thrill of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) in Ranchi, Jharkhand Computer Traders Association (JCTA) will be hosting the Computer Premiere League (CPL) where 6 teams drawn on the lines of IPL will be vying for glory in JSCA International Stadium.

Spinning on a budget of Rs 10 lakh, team players have been drawn entirely from within channel partners and their associates with each of the team being sponsored by local channel partners. The cost of each of the teams is Rs 25, 000 excluding the prices of the players.

"We are drawing inspiration for this tournament from IPL. Players from each of the teams were put on auction and bidding for them was done openly. After this process was over, where we selected tptal 90 players for the 6 teams the grouping was done, " said Sushil Kumar, president, JCTA.

JCTA has also brought in professional umpires, commentators, and score-keepers for the event.

"The stadium is new in Ranchi and as soon as a cricket match was proposed to be played in the stadium, members jumped with exaltation for the event," Kumar added.

Kumar further stated that the selected members are taking so much interest in the game that players arrive in the field for practice as early as 8 am and put up their best.

The format of the event comprises of 6 teams categorised into 2 groups. The top 2 of each group will play against each other for the semi-finals after which the 2 winners in the semis will fight in the finals on Sunday.

"We have also planned for a get-together post-match (drawn on the lines of IPL post-match party) inclusive of family members of the participants and expect around 600 people to join us for the dinner," Kumar said.

JCTA is planning to take the CPL to new highs next year as it is considering increasing the team strength to 10 teams and invite other eastern associations to play.
