Intel's IoT Roadshow Reaches Pune

Intel showcased 44 IoT solutions created using the Intel IoT Developer Kit includes an Intel Edison Development Board, an Arduino-compatible development board based on Intel Architecture for the very first time in the city.

The roadshow saw a total of 120 plus participations. The developers came together for this 24 hour hackathon to build IoT enabled solutions. In 2015, Intel is hosting more than 20 IoT roadshows for developer communities in cities across the US, Europe, South American and Asia.

Gesture-Based Home Automation, a solution that allows you to control and execute various household activities using gestures, walked away with the first prize.

The other winning projects included: Smart City Plugin - a solution to digitally monitor the city infrastructure using the cloud, DoorMate – a smart door that can send you alerts and also allows you to trigger action, Brain Inside – a smart helmet to protect motorists, Smart Digital Contracts – a solution to seamlessly transfer value and IOT Aqua – a smart aquarium. The judging panel was a mix of senior media technology editors and senior Intel technology team.

Narendra Bhandari - Director, APJ, Intel Software and Services Group - Developer Relations Division said, “We need more designers of systems for Make in India. Young individuals need to be able to use their design, software and hardware integrations skills to create complete systems. This will lead to more innovation for local usages. The Intel IoT Roadshow is specifically structured to help young makers innovate. The Intel IoT Roadshow in its 3rd offering in India came to Pune. These hackathons take us another step closer in our efforts to help grow the design and maker community in India and help them build successful products.”

In Bengaluru earlier this year, the Intel IoT Roadshow saw 153 makers come together to create 45 IoT solutions.
