Infosys has appointed Anup Uppadhayay as the new chief executive officer (CEO) and Deepak Bhalla as the new chief financial officer (CFO) of its business processing outsourcing (BPO) arm.
A veteran Infoscion, Uppadhayay was the global head of the parent company’s financial services business till recently and held various executive positions during his over two decades old service.
“As BPO is of strategic importance to us, our endeavor is to transform it with process innovation, automation and artificial intelligence to deliver efficiency and business value to our clients,” said Vishal Sikka, chief executive, Infosys.
Sikka hoped the company’s back office operations would become an exemplar on how business processes should be run under the leadership of Uppadhayay and Bhalla.
The new appointments to the BPO arm were made following the resignation of incumbent CEO Gautam Thakkar with effect from Nov 30 and sacking of incumbent CFO Abraham Mathews for not complying with its code of conduct.
The company hived off its BPO back office business into a subsidiary in 2002 to focus on integrated outsourcing and deliver transformational benefits to its global clients through reduced costs, productivity improvements and process re-engineering.
