Hitachi Data Systems Corporation has taken up the cause of promoting affirmative action policies in Karnataka, as part of the Confederation of Industry (CII)'s affirmative action panel.
At a panel discussion organized at the recently held CII Annual CSR summit, Hitachi Data Systems outlined its work with Dalit Indian chambers of commerce and Industries (DICCI) Karnataka to open vendorship and partnership opportunities for upcoming entrepreneurs from SC/ST sections of society in the region.
Avinash Kulkarni, co- convenor, CII Affirmative Action Panel & Technology Alliances Manager, Hitachi Data Systems, India spoke about how CII and Hitachi have showcased the astounding progress made in affirmative action today at the CII annual diversity and inclusion summit. He also mentioned that Hitachi Data Systems and several other CII members like TCS, Volvo, and Taegutec are increasing employability through teacher training, skill building in ITI/Polytechnics/engineering institutions, participation in ITI management committees and student counseling.
This Affirmative Action panel connects such institutions and students to CII members who want to recruit talent from diverse communities. This group has been actively working with CII on affirmative action programs in Karnataka state since 2012 as part of its CSR efforts.
