HCL Comnet, an Indian managed secured connectivity provider, bagged the largest networking contract of the year, SBI's Fast Track Project, to inter-link 257 ATMs across the country. SBI wanted to roll out its 250 plus ATM sites within a span of 60 days.
They were looking at an experienced network integrator who could work to stringent time frames and had presence across the cities where SBI wanted the network. HCL Comnet, with an installed base of 5,000 VSATs and nationwide presence provided the total solution for their ATM network.
With Fast Track, HCL Comnet interlinked around 200 of the 257 ATMs in short span of 23 days. Smartmanage, a project and network management tool that enables a minute-by-minute tracking of the project facilitated this deployment.
Smartmanage was deployed for the first time for such a large network and has proven to be successful. The company aims to completely implement the order in 30 days. Fast Track also reinforces HCL Comnet's strategy to focus on the high-potential ATM segment by providing customized and cost-effective VSAT connectivity solutions.
In the first phase of SBI project, HCL Comnet provided connectivity through a hybrid network of VSATs, leased lines, VPNs and ISDN to offer a deployable and scalable solution. SBI further plans to network all its branches and ATMs across the country over a period of time.
Commenting on the SBI contract, Vineet Nayar, CEO, HCL Comnet said, "SBI win is an endorsement of our quality-promise to provide customized and cost-effective connectivity solutions to our customers." In addition to SBI, HCL Comnet is also interconnecting other large ATM networks for banks; including Mumbai based IndusInd bank.
