Google plans its biggest campus in Hyderabad

Google and Telangana Govt signed MoU to build its campus worth Rs 1000 crore in Hyderabad

Internet giant Google has signed an MoU with the Telangana government to build its biggest campus in Hyderabad. Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao and David Radcliffe, Senior Vice President of Google, signed the MoU at Google HQ in Mountain.

“Excited to announce that Google & Govt of Telangana have inked an MoU to build their largest campus (outside US) in Hyderabad”, KT Rama Rao twitted after signing the MoU.

As per the MoU, Google will make an investment of Rs 1000 to build its state of the art campus which is said to be second largest campus outside the US. The campus, which will be built over 2 Million sq ft space will be completed in four years. KT Rama Rao said that the campus would provide employment to over 13000 IT professionals.

Aiming to attract investment in the state, KT Rama Rao is on the visit of the US where he will be meeting major industry players. The Minister along with IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and state government officials, visited the Google Headquarters in Mountain View.

With major IT giants keen to make an investment in the state, Telangana is rapidly transforming into the hottest IT place in India. Another IT giant, Amazon Seller Services Pvt Ltd (ASSPL) has recently announced fresh investments in Telangana with the opening of a Fulfillment Centre (FC), spread over 280,000 square feet near Kottur. This is said to be the largest investment in infrastructure in any single state from Amazon in India.

Talking about the development, Sundeep Kumar Makthala, president of The Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) said that Telangana was emerging as a most preferred IT locations in the country.

“Due to its cheap land cost, many IT vendors are attracting towards Telangana. Hyderabad provides the finest work environment for companies. Compared to other cities in south India, Hyderabad it more suitable for business”, he said.

Makthala said that that the approach and vision of the current IT Minister would further encourage big companies to invest in the state and generate employment opportunities.
