Facebook gets Live with two new features

Social networking giant Facebook has added two new features to its Facebook Live functionality - Live Chat with Friends and Live With. The latter enables users to share their experiences and connect with friends in real time.

Live Chat with Friends allows users to invite their friends to a private chat about a public live broadcast. Users can invite their friends, and those who are already watching can also join public conversations any time. Users will further get the ability to continue chatting with their friends via Messenger, once the broadcast ends.

In an official blog post, Facebook said that through the Live Chat with Friends feature, it aims to enable users to be part of big moments with the wider community. In addition, they can participate in personal conversations with the people closest to them, directly within the live experience.

The second new feature - Live With - allows a user to invite their friend into a live video so that they can hang out together. Earlier, this feature was only available to public figures.

To invite a friend, users just have to select a guest from their 'Live Viewers' section or tap a comment from the viewer they want to invite. The viewer can then choose whether or not to join the broadcast. It's possible to go live with a guest in both portrait mode (for a picture-in-picture experience) and landscape mode (for a side-by-side experience).

Recently, an online report suggested that Facebook is rolling out its new 'Town Hall' feature in its primary app. The feature can be found under the 'More' tab.

Spotted by TechCrunch website, the feature aims to let users easily get in touch with government representatives on local and state levels. Facebook 'Town Hall' has not started showing up in India yet.
