Mobile Infrastructure market saw Ericsson as leader in 2G, 3G and 4G LTE mobile based on their global revenue in 2014. Huawei is the second-largest telecom vendor; Nokia Networks is in the third position, whereas the Chinese telecom gear maker ZTE is in the fourth position and Alcatel-Lucent is in the fifth position.
According to the Infonetics Research, 2G, 3G, 4G mobile infrastructure market will drop from nearly $47 bn in 2019 to $27 bn in 2014 as the planet reaches the end of macro cell mobile deployments.
The possible dip in telecom capex will be a big blow to telecom equipment vendors. Telecom capex has slowed over the last couple of years. Telecom operators are now focusing on enterprise markets of cloud services and M2M/IoT and their strategies as consumer market are now evolving toward B2B2C and partnership models.
