D-Link ties up with Tata Communications

D-Link India recently announced that Tata Communi­cations has selected D-Link
India as its supplier for providing wireless access points and antennas for
deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.

To wirelessly enable these hotspots, Tata Communications has deployed D-Link
access points-DWL-3200AP, DWL-2100AP and wireless antennas-ANT-24-0800,
ANT-24-0801.

Tata Communications has been leading the growth of the Wi-Fi industry in
India and today has the largest Wi-Fi deployment among domestic ISPs with over
500 hotspots.

The company's hotspots include major domestic and international airports,
leading premium star hotels, educational institu­tions, sports stadium,
hospitals, chain of restaurants and coffee shops. Its partners include companies
like Taj Group of Hotels, Le Meridien, Café Coffee Day, Barista, Manipal
University, Wockhardt, amongst others. Tata Communications has also been driving
innova­tion through creating hotspots at non-traditional locations like mobile
stores, IT stores and railway stations.

According to a Tata Communications statement, D-Link India has been selected
as its supplier due to its good coverage and manageability of D-Link equipments.

“Tata Communications was looking for a solution where the features and
functionality of the equipment and ability to remotely manage the growing number
of hotspots were the key criteria for selection. We evaluated a number of
potential suppliers and selected D-Link for deployment of indoor and outdoor
Wi-Fi Access Points in our hotspots” stated Prateek Pashine, VP-Planning Retail
Business, Tata Communications.

Mahinder Mansukhani, VP- Service Provider and Business Development, D-Link
India stated, “It's a great fillip to the Indian Wi-fi story. Combining D-Link's
unmatched product range in the wireless and broadband space and Tata
Communi­cation's expertise in providing broadband services will enable seamless
roaming and usage of wireless broadband for data, voice and video
communications.”
