As Eastern Indian largest Tech Fair COMPASS 14-15 enters into its 17th year, there are plans and events on line like never before. Starting from February 13th the Fair will be organized till February 16th (2015) at Kolkata’s Netaji Indoor Stadium and Khudiram Anushilan Kendra. The addition of Khudiram Anushilan Kendra is to get enough space to organize the events and workshops that would otherwise not have been possible at Netaji Indoor Stadium which will be dedicated space for the stalls. The entry to the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair would be by invitation, tickets and free registration at the official website www.compassfair.in.
COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair will organize a world-class seminar on “Internet of Things” (IOT) and “Cyber Security” with the support of CeBIT India at The Taj Bengal hotel on February 16th 2015. According to Gartner study, it is estimated that there would be 26 bn devices on the Internet of Things by 2020. These intelligent devices would not only have sensory capabilities (see and hear) but also actuation capabilities that perform various day to day actions like opening locks and turning on lights etc.
The IOT would generate big data that would have to be analyzed and stored securely across various domains. Thus the question of Cyber Security becomes very important which the seminar would address. Ranjan Goenka is the coordinator of the Seminars in which renowned speakers would participate.
COMPASS would organize an Inter-College IT Quiz in which avid quizzers from 60 plus leading colleges would participate. Quiz Master Goutam Bose would conduct the Quiz that would be an interesting recap on the IT world and also test the quizzing prowess of the participants. There would be three interesting days of quizzing along with live rounds live audio and video rounds promising an action packed atmosphere to excite a humongous crowd. The winners shall bag trophies and every participant awarded with certificates and prizes. There would also be the audience rounds and exciting prizes up for grabs at the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair. A new introduction to the COMPASS 14-15 Tech Fair, the Short Film Competition would invite 6-minute films and videos from professionals and amateurs on a chosen topic. The theme of the Competition is “Pause for a Cause” and would be coordinated by Hemant Chabria. Attractive prizes would be given to the winners.
The popular action-packed Man vs Machine competition is expected to attract 2000-plus gamers and techno-hobbyists from across India and would be coordinated by Umang Lalani, this Competition at the COMPASS 14-15 Fair has been attracting the young lots in droves who display their gaming skills. With exciting prizes to be won, the doors would be open for on-spot registrations for all the gaming enthusiasts.
Tech Fair would hold workshops on Social Marketing, Online Security, Digital Art, Photography and on other topics coordinated by Shiv Mohta. The idea is to familiarize the visitors with the mechanisms and impart knowledge about the gadgets and IT trends that rule our lives.
