Bitstream Inc and C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced
Computing), GIST, Pune, have announced an agreement to bring a wide variety of
classic and contemporary Indian language fonts to developers licensing Bitstream
Font Fusion, Bitstream's font rendering technology, and Bitstream Panorama, a
globaltextcomposition engine.
The Indian language fonts are all OpenType typefaces that
support popular Indian languages including Assamese, Bengali, Devanagari script
(supports Hindi and Marathi), Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi,
Tamil and Telugu.
"With the increasing demand of supporting Indian
languages in all applications and devices, this partnership will help C-DAC in
its mission to proliferate the usage of languages and ensure that everyone gets
the benefits of computerization. C-DAC looks forward to this collaboration as a
