UP government starts ‘attendance-with-selfie' campaign launched by the Chandauli district administration which requires teachers to click selfies with their students and send it to a WhatsApp group ‘Attendance with Selfie'.
Government is using the selfie craze for checking wheather teacher’s are in class or not . In Chandauli teachers in government-run schools have to click selfies with their students every day to prove that they are on duty.
In rural areas schools attendance has always been a concern. This move was taken after parents complained of absence of teachers.
Navin Krishna a Social activist told HT, “Many teachers were causal about attending schools in remote areas. Some teachers posted in far-flung parts did not bother to take classes. The survey brought forth the stark reality of teachers' attendance.” So far, this action of UP government has found support from teachers and students.
